High-build drywall priming, painting that works around other trades, and a full walkthrough at the end, for builders and new homes in a mountain resort setting.

How We Handle New Construction Painting in Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks keeps building. The master plan records a 24-unit townhouse project finished in 2018, a 48-unit townhouse project finished for the 2019/20 ski season, a 62-unit project started in 2018 and about 35 new chalets in seven single-family neighborhoods. The municipality also lists a six-storey, 110-unit housing building at 1180 Sun Peaks Road. Builders on projects like these need a painter who fits the sequence.

We prime new drywall with a high-build coat, then paint around the other trades on site. We confirm colors and start dates ahead of time, give schedule updates and finish with a full walkthrough, so touch-ups are marked before handover. The first step is a visit to the site and an itemized written quote.

Local Knowledge

Building at altitude: permits, snow and cold

The municipality's 2023 building bylaw requires permits for new structures, says the wildfire plan, and the same plan reports that new homes seen in early 2024 had wooden siding. Wood siding, stucco and trim all need priming and coats suited to the surface. Ask your project lead what finishes are specified, and share the finish schedule with us at the visit.

Winter sets the sequence. With about six meters of snow a year and cold that can reach minus 35 degrees Celsius, inside coats need a closed-in, heated building, and outside coats wait for the paint label's temperature range. Sherwin-Williams lists some exterior paints down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Roads matter too: the resort says winter conditions can change drive times from Kamloops, so tell us about site access early.
